I found this place while I was on my way to get a LONG overdue haircut at His & Hers - figured I'd stop in on the way back to work. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich - DElish! I'm even eating it cold becuase it was too big to finish! Tastes just as good though :-) It came with coleslaw which was also perfect - has a little kick which was unexpected but so yummy! Aside from the tasty food, the chef was also a treat! Got to chat with him whlie he was making my food and let me just say....he is the real deal! Has an impressive culinary background, makes everything from scratch, and is beyond friendly! Make the time to stop in and check it out!!! I know I'll be going there again.

today (2/20/2012) i ordered a medium turkey burger with lettuce, tomatoes and cheddar cheese. it was the best, largest and tastiest turkey burger i ever had! my co-worker ordered their signature sandwich; castaway (chicken (breaded or grilled) with swiss cheese, roasted red peppers, lettuce, tomato and citrus aioli. she loved it as well!

Love this place. Their menu isn't huge, but it has everything you need and it is all really good. For breakfast, everything is great. I usually get eggs because they come with hashbrowns and their hashbrowns are sooo good. My boyfriend had pancakes there today which were also really good.The only time I went there for lunch I had a pulled pork sandwich that was super tasty. It's a small restaurant with few frills except the great food. And really, what more do you need?

Ill start of by saying that the outside of the building where Castaway Cafe is located is nothing that's easy on the eyes, however, the building is for sale so it may have been neglected in the recent past. I decided to give Castaway Cafe a try finally after hearing many positive reviews from friends. When you walk in, its nothing special when it comes to the decor, but they do have a nice mural on the side wall done by a local artist. Also, there is no heat. Now you may be saying, "no heat! What kind of place is this?!" Keep reading.... Three points of a review.....here we go. Atmosphere- Like I said, the outside of the building is dingy looking but its not at the fault of the owner of the restaurant, its the fault of the owner of the building (property is currently for sale). The inside is quite bland looking, but its nothing that will prevent me from visiting. The owner of the restaurant, who also does the cooking, was interacting with the customers regularly which made the atmosphere feel highly welcoming and comfortable. Service- Castaway Cafe reminds of you of a small town family owned restaurant. The service is not the best, ill be honest, however, for some reason its hard to grow impatient because the owner/chef, and the servers are so friendly, and caring. You can sense that there is a lot of pride the owner feels for the food and the restaurant. Food- This is the part that stumps the previous 2 points. The food was fantastic. I went there for breakfast, and it was easily the best breakfast I have had in this area. The pancakes were fluffy, moist, and cooked perfectly. The bacon was thick cut and cooked perfectly (not crispy where it falls apart). The eggs were delicious, and the potatoes.....the potatoes are some of the best you'll ever have. The chef puts a mixture of seasoning on the potatoes which at first taste I thought was seasoned salt but with other seasoning mixed in with it, and they were cooked perfectly as well. My girlfriend ordered an omelette, and she loved it. Castaway also has a table with a coffee maker, and Iced tea where you can get coffee on your own, or get a refill when you want it. Normally, I only give 5 starts if a restaurant meets the three points of review..however because of the at home, inviting atmosphere, and the kick ass food, I had to give it a 5. Tip to the owner: If you stay at that location when the property is purchased...try to figure out how to sneak in some more seating. Possibly line the side wall with a booth, and have 2 top tables along the side wall (When I was there, a lot of the tables you have are 4 tops and they only had 2 people sitting at them.) then use your 4 tops or use 2 tops in the middle, and along the wall with the mural. Thats what I was thinking when I was waiting for my food.
